I was going to write something about why I’m interested in artificial intelligence/computational neuroscience on my LinkedIn About section but it would’ve gone over the word count, then I wanted to make it a post but there’s a word count for that as well so I spent a million years figuring out how to make a blog on GitHub, and that’s basically the origin story of this blog.
+ I just started a master’s in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience and uploaded a deep learning project on GitHub (A simple neural network/MNIST digit recognizer), so now’s probably the best time to start a blog.
I’ll start with a quick introduction to this blog and myself. I didn’t think this was a hobby when I was younger, but I genuinely enjoy gaining a deep understanding of phenomena, particularly in science, so basically everything lol (I actually want to get a telescope and start learning about astronomy). The one liner for that would probably be ‘I’m a curious person.’, so that’s what the content of this blog will involve, an exploration of everything I’m curious about, but mainly everything in the intersection of Cognitive Neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence. I'm in the process of writing a post about what artificial intelligence/computational neuroscience is and a post basically explaining how exactly DeepMind's AlphaGo programme works from a computer scientist perspective (will probably attach a jupyter notebook to this), so I'm going to assume that anyone reading this has preliminary knowledge in computer science and neuroscience, but I'm a student so I will be explaining everything from a students perspective.
The writing style will be mixed as I will be uploading the work I do during my masters, including reviews of research pertaining to my thesis. I’ll also have posts like this which are less formal.
I’m basically just writing these posts so I have somewhere to store my thoughts and to help me learn better when reading various materials and I guess in the internet/social media era this is a good way to boost my career, but feel free to leave a comment or send me a private message about any of the content, I definitely welcome discussions or debates.
Hopefully I can enlighten you on the research, theory and philosophy behind Artificial Intelligence. See you in the next post :)
